Études en France ID photo (Campus France Tunisia): size rules and how to meet them

The Études en France platform, used by students in Tunisia applying to French higher education, asks for a recent ID photo of at most 50 KB. A phone photo is usually several megabytes, so it has to be reduced before upload.

The official rule

up to 50 KB

The photo must be recent. The tutorial does not state a file format or pixel size.

Steps

  1. Take a recent photo facing the camera, against a plain light background, with even lighting.
  2. Open this page and choose the photo. The Études en France preset is already selected.
  3. Check the preview: zoom in and make sure your face is sharp.
  4. Download the photo and upload it in the photo section of your Études en France file.

Common mistakes

  • Confusing KB and MB: 50 KB is 0.05 MB, about a hundred times smaller than a typical phone photo.
  • Uploading an iPhone HEIC photo directly. Choose it here and you will get a JPEG.
  • Using an old photo. The tutorial asks for a recent one.
  • Cropping so tightly that the top of the head or the chin is cut off.
